Not all lawyers are created equal

I know… shopping for a lawyer can be like going to the dentist. You don’t really want to, you know you need to, and you just sort of dread it. Most of the time you don’t even know why you dread it, you just do it! Perhaps it is the unknown, perhaps it’s the fear that the lawyer is going to say you are doing it ALL wrong! Want in on a secret? This is how I feel when I talk to my accountant! “I’m about to learn I’ve done it all wrong…”

But the truth? He never says that. He just takes the requested information, does some magic, then tells me what to pay and when to pay it. The truth is that I built it up in my head because I was scared of being told I was wrong.

My goal is to never make you feel like you are doing it wrong! Because even if you’ve made a mistake or two, chances are you have done so much right! And I, as your lawyer want you to know that! I dig deeper than the law, I talk to you about the business things you are doing and what you should keep doing! I know, a lawyer can be scary. But, I truly aim to break the stereotype- after all, I am SO much like you! I am a wife, a mom and a business owner. I was a business owner long before I was a lawyer.

Now that you hopefully understand that a lawyer may not be so scary, it is also important to distinguish what is a business lawyer, and that we are all not created equal.

Five ways my business practice might be different than other lawyers:

  1. I work remotely which allows me to keep a VERY low overhead and pass those savings on to my clients.

  2. I work with online businesses very frequently and thus understand the unique challenges they face.

  3. Trademarks! Not all business lawyers do these, and they are SO important! (Check out the video below)

  4. I was a business owner FIRST. I know that a business is multi-faceted and thus, legal decisions should not be made in a vacuum. Again, check out that video… :)

  5. I’m the first in my family to go to college (and the only lawyer). I know how to explain concepts and break them down into actionable items for those who are not familiar with the law.

& I aim to serve! The position of attorney is one that should be focused around serving our clients, and not dictating to them. We are given a great deal of responsibility and your attorney should take that seriously!

I’d love to get to know you and serve your business. Please feel free to reach out!
